Olivia stood in the shadows of her bedroom watching from her window as Tony left. His swagger was gone, replaced by the shell-shocked, slumped-shouldered demeanor of a defeated man. Tony arrived home, dropped his briefcase at the door and undressed, leaving his clothes where they lay. The readout on his answering machine blinked insistently. 6 – 6 – 6 – 6. Probably six messages from six women that suddenly he had absolutely no interest in. He deleted the messages without listening to them, then lay on his bed in the dark and relived the evening with Olivia in his mind. He inhaled the aroma of her lotion still on his skin and the drifting feeling overtook him again, so he lay in bed, perfectly still, trying not to float away...

Olivia is new in town, but certainly not new to the ways of the player. She knows that no man can treat her the way she deserves so she doesn’t even try to find one. As far as she’s concerned, life is just fine without the complications of a boyfriend or God forbid, a husband. When she meets Tony, she sees him for exactly what he is, a playboy looking for a good time. She’s wise to his playboy ways but still, she wouldn’t mind spending a little time with him.
Tony and Olivia hook up, each with their own agenda. Then, against all odds, something happens that changes them both…

BB book club/DLW Reviewer: Green Eyes and Good Hair was a fantastic book. In this book, the author showed that you can't judge a book by its cover. I was excited about the fact, that his main character Oliva was a plus size woman, not your typical size 2 or 4 woman. I also liked the fact, that Olivia was in control of the relationship and didn't let her weight become a deterrent. I hope Mr. Smith comes back with a continuation of Green Eyes and Good Hair 2. I really would love to know where Olivia and Tony take their relationship. Marriage? Kids?Product details

I think what I didn't like most was the overall negative attitude about women. I realize that there's a lot of sleeping around and one night stands put there, but I like to believe that men aren't saying such awful things about the women who sleep with them. The main male character was un-likable.
I enjoyed this book for the most part, however i feel like something was missing. The story began with his friends giving him props on his doggish ways but they weren't included in the story once he changed. i would have liked to know their response to him loving a big girl and even give him a hard time about it. The story also came to an abrupt end...wouldn't mind reading a continuation to this story...ex- girl friend's reaction, etc...
I love this book but I hate the way it ended so abruptly. It’s almost like the author got tired of writing and was just like ok the end.
A quick read and a simple one, and it appears to be an installment on a bigger story. aloha, Noel

Every single page leaves you wanting more. Hugh's writing not only paints a picture, but the connection you develop for Olivia and the rest of the characters takes you on an incredible journey of laughter, sadness, and so much more! I am so glad to have come across not only this book, but the entire box set - which includes Willows and Soccer Mom . Definitely recommend anything written by Hugh!
